MORE INCIDENTS INVOLVING ICS OPERATORS OCCURRED OVER 2016 AND 2017                                         FOR THAN PREVIOUS YEAR







SECURITY:  Global consulting and technology firm booz Allen Hamilton has unveiled finding 

from its industrial cyber security  Threat briefing that points to a sharp increase in threats to 

warlds industrial  control system (ICS).


ICS platforms are instrumental in controlling and automating processes within a number of 

industries such as pharmaceuticals and petrochemicals. The  manufacturing energy, utilities 

and transportation industries are reportedly at the most risk.





The Industrial control systems cyber emergency response team (ICS- CERT) has recorded over

  800 cyber security breaches globally since 2011 the bull of which occurred within the energy sector.

Further more  the repository of industrial security incidents (RISI)  reported that cyber attacks

  against oil and enterprises in the region comprise of more than 50% af all registered 

occurrences in the middle.


"The  path to success lies in ensuring a comprehensive approach that enables stake holders to

 collaborate in addressing sheared multidimensional cyber issues,"

commented Dr. Mahir Nayfeh senior vice president at Booz Allen Hamilton.


"Mitigating risk reguires more than just tuning firewalls and applying patches; it also involves investing in human capital and training on policies and procedures.

All facets of the cyber domain must be considered technology.
