Chevrolet Colorado ZH2

CHEVROLET COLORADO ZH2

BUILT LIKE A TANK

AND QUITE LITERALLY BECAUSE THE CHEVROLET COLORADO ZH2 IS BEING DEVELOPED BY THE US ARMY'S TANK SHOP........

Tardec is the United states Army 's Tank and Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Centre, so it basically experiments with the toughest and most capable ground terrain vehicles ever known to man.

TARDEC's been around since the second World War, so the experience is root in advanced military use and now seeing as TARDEC is headquartered in warren Michigan , a stone throws from General Motors the likely the most extreme fuel cell powered vehicle ever.

At over two metres wide and about just as tall this Chevrolet colorado ZH2 sites on a stretched truck chassis and 37 in tyres.

Its on board fuel cell can power auxiliary test the ZH2 next year to determine its  feasibility for wider use.

The army notes benefits such as near silent operation silent watch capability reduced acoustic and thermal signatures, high torque at all speed and since it emits nothing but H20 the soldiers get water as a by product in the field.

Although it's now over to TARDEC to develop the colorado ZH2 it was 30 km away from their base where GM's designers did their thing by adding bulging bodywork tow hooks everywhere and LED's in ever nook.

Inside there are some cushy looking recaros and Simpson harnesses, though don't expect them to be standard service.

The big ZH2 may be what the people that build tanks make on their  lunch breaks but it's still mighty impressive to us little car folk.
