2014 jeep wrangler willys wheeler edition

TAKE THE SALUTE JEEP 75

JEEP TEASES WITH AN IRRESISTIBLE  1941 WILLYS-INSPIRED ONE OFF BUT A LIMITED EDITION 75 ANNIVERSARY WRANGLER ON SALE NOW MIGHT FILL THE VOID.....................

In the summer of 1940 the US military needed a light reconnaissance vehicle to replace its ageing Ford Model T related fleet you'd think bidding would go through the roof for this lucrative government contract and the military did invite 135 manufacturers to submit their proposals.

Except only two manufacturers answered the call willys-overland and America bantam before ford threw in a bid too.
Each of the three come up  with their own take on a light reconnaissance vehicle with a 300kg load capacity wheelbase shorter than 1,900mm height lower than 910mm foldable  windshied, and four-wheel drive with a two speed transfer case all with a kerb weight less than 590kg.
willys fulfilled the cere busy immortalising a legend exactly 75 year ago brad on battlields since 1941 one of the willys jeep first and most formidable ports of call was normandy for the D-Day landings in the second world War.

The Jeep litrerally helped save the free world. Commemorating this heritage the current guardian of the Jeep brand Chrysles has commissioned a one off Wrangler 75th Salute concept celebrating the Jeep's heritage. It's based on the Wrangler Sport powered by Pentastar's 3.6-litre v6 mated to a six speed manual.

A pure celebration of function over form, the 75th Salute features or rather doesn't feature any B-pillars or for that matter any doors. It does however, get 16 in steelies and 32 in military tyres.

Unfortunately the 75th salute will remain a concept however Jeep has Wrangler 75th Anniversary limited edition model with unique paint and accents and a whole bunch of 1941 logos. That's not nearly as much of a salute to 1941 as the salute but we take it the long wheelbase only limited 75th Anniversary model is already available in our region with the sahara two door priced at Dh 165,000 and the sahara Unlimited four door retailing for dh 175,000.
